I'm no geologist or energy expert, but frozen methane in marine sediment certainly sounds like an abundant viable source of energy. It also seems that big companies (oil or otherwise) would be interested in developing it since it would not require a radical change in their current business model.

In addition it seems that landfills burn off methane so that it isn't released into the atmosphere. If methane became more widely used... landfills could potentially be a source also.
Are there any large advocates for this energy source? Mike should consider this when developing his energy independence plan.
